After earning her master’s degree in public health from Kaplan University, Dr. Hadiatou Barry earned her medical degree from the University of the Americas in St. Kitts and Nevis. She completed her internal medicine internship and residency at Jefferson Health-Abington in Abington, PA and her gastroenterology and hepatology fellowship at Creighton University in Phoenix, AZ where she served as chief fellow in her final fellowship year.

During residency, she was awarded the William H Mehmood Award for the most compassionate resident in 2019 from Jefferson Health-Abington and received the Frobese Scholars Award for her exceptional scholarly achievement and outstanding contribution to the program and community. She served as an honorary clinical instructor with Walden University. Dr. Barry has authored and published numerous articles and abstracts and has presented in major gastroenterology societies including American College of Gastroenterology, American Gastroenterological Association, ASGE, and PubMed. Dr. Barry is a member of the AMA, ACG, AGA, ASGE, and AASLD as well as local gastroenterology societies.

Dr. Barry’s clinical interests include upper endoscopy, colonoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, capsule endoscopy, EMR, RFA, APC, enteroscopy, luminal stents, percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy/feeding tubes, hemorrhoidal banding, Bravo, esophageal manometry, polypectomy, dilation, ablation, and cryotherapy.

Dr. Barry is fluent in English and Fulani and is conversational in French. She is actively learning Yoruba and Spanish. Outside of medicine, she is involved in the community and spends time with her husband and their three sons.
